The BCA Commercial Inventory Extract contains a record or row for every building or part of a building in a jurisdictional or area, unless it has been omitted for privacy reasons.

Non-residential properties are assessed using different approaches, dependent on multiple factors including, for example, income generation and highest and best use. Building breakdown of floor area by use is not always collected, depending on the assessment approach. Therefore, users of this data will find some properties carry a more detailed breakdown of floor area by use than others.

Total areas of buildings are not collected for major industrial properties and any other properties valued using the ad valorem approach and therefore will not be available in this report. This may include properties like sawmills, airports, schools and utilities.

Use of this data is restricted to internal government named users. All users of this data are required to enter into an End User License Agreement (EULA) under the authority of their Ministry.

At this time, the EULA can be signed and access requested by the Expense Authority for your Branch/Division (e.g., Director or Executive Director) using the Data Request Form. The following information is to be included in the request:

  • Ministry
  • Division
  • Branch
  • List of names and IDIR's for each person that will be accessing and/or using the data
  • Short description of intended data use
