Historic places include the buildings, neighbourhoods, trails and cultural landscapes that contribute to British Columbia’s unique identity. You can explore this map to learn about historic places in your area.

The map shows post-1846 historic places in BC that are formally recognized for their heritage value by the province or a local government under provincial legislation, as recorded in the BC Register of Historic Places (“Registered”). It also includes some sites that are formally recognized under federal legislation (“Federal Jurisdiction”). Archaeological sites are not included.

The data comes from the BC Register of Historic Places which is part of the official provincial heritage register database. New historic places are added based on notifications from local governments and provincial government agencies.
