Dataset Extent

Latitude: 48.0° to 60.0°
Longitude: -139.5° to -113.5°

Additional Information

Purpose

Visual purposes intended for general public information only and should not be relied on as accurate for a specific location due to variability in local site and weather conditions. Information is updated as soon as is practicable on a daily basis. Where discrepancies exist between this map and the source information located at Fire Danger Rating web page, the source information shall take precedence. For regulated forest operations, the danger class value must be derived from weather data representative of the site on which operations are being conducted. Where discrepancies exist between the colour display on the weather maps and the numerical values posted for the weather stations, the posted numerical values shall take precedence for the purpose of implementing complying with the Wildfire Regulation.

Data Quality

Danger rating is updated daily between April and November.

Object Description

Object Name: WHSE_LAND_AND_NATURAL_RESOURCE.PROT_DANGER_RATING_SP

Short Name: DNGR_RATE
Comments: Fire Danger Rating indicates how easily fires can start and spread in an area. The ratings are derived from weather stations and is only relevant for the geographic location of the weather station.

Column Name Short Name Data Type Data Precision Comments
PROT_DR_SYSID DR_SYSID NUMBER 10 PROT_DR_SYSID is a system generated unique identification number
DANGER_RATING DNGR_RT NUMBER 2 The danger rating value of how easily a fire can spread, i.e., Less than 1.4 (Very Low); 1.5 to 2.4 (Low); 2.5 to 3.4 (Moderate); 3.5 to 4.4 (High); Greater than 4.5 (Extreme)
