During a declared emergency event, this dataset will include the communities affected by Evacuation Order Orders and Alerts, which represents the populated communities and First Nations in the province, and their current evacuation status.

The purpose of this file is to provide a view of populated communities in the province that are under Evacuation Alert,Evacuation Order or the All Clear status during an emergency event.

Data Quality

This data set is updated on an as needed basis during an Emergency Event where the need for Geographical Information is a requirement to support the event. In some cases this file may not get updated for small events that are being managed locally by an emergency operations centre. This dataset however should be updated when their is provincial involvement in the support of the local governments in the response to the event.

Lineage Statement

This files is an extract from the BC Geographic Names database where FEATURE CLASS = Populated OR FEATURE CLASS = Administrative Areas and FEATURE_TYPE = Indian Reserve-Reserve indienne or Indian Government District. the selection of populated places will be updated on a yearly basis from the BC Geographic Names database.
