Near real-time data from the Water Survey of Canada is analysed against stream flow metrics developed by the River Forecast Centre. Key data available on this map include: 1.) Water Survey of Canada Gauge ID 2.) Water Survey of Canada Gauge Name 3.) Location (Lat/Long) 4.) Current gauge height and discharge readings 5.) Current streamflow estimated return period (relative to annual peak flow return periods) 6.) Current streamflow discharge as percentage of mean annual discharge 7.) link to Water Survey of Canada real-time hydrometric data and website

Additional Information

Purpose

This data was created to assess current stream flow conditions against historic peak return period flow and mean annual discharge to assist in monitoring flood and drought conditions across British Columbia

Data Quality

The data are collected in near-real-time by automated monitors at numerous remote locations and are unverified. The data are preliminary, and may be changed upon subsequent review. Some data may be wrong. It is not uncommon for individual water level recorders to give false readings, due to local conditions. They should be considered as reference values only, by which to evaluate the current readings. They should not be used for design or other purposes. Users of this data must accept all responsibility for the use and interpretation. Data may be modified from their original values.

Lineage Statement
