Subset of the provincial beetle management unit zones Beetle Management Units (BMUs) for the Cariboo-Chilcotin Natural Resource District (DCC) that have a suppression strategy for IBD (Douglas Fir Beetle) for 2018.

Depicts areas where licensees can enter Old Growth Management Areas (OGMAs) Licensee can only harvest in OGMA if it is for Suppression.

Data fields: BMUNAME - Name of Beetle Management Unit; AUGUST2018 IBM - BMU Strategy for Insect Mountain Pine Beetle; AUGUST2018 IBD - BMU Strategy for Insect Douglas Fir Beetle; AUGUST2018 IBS - BMU Strategy for Insect Spruce Beetle

Strategies include:

Suppression - Selected when infestation is status is such that aggressive direct control actions are expected to keep an area at endemic population levels. Intent is to reduce or keep the outbreak to a size and distribution that can be handled with "normal resource capability".

Holding - Intent of this strategy is to maintain an existing outbreak at a relatively static level.

Monitor - Applied to areas where that are low population levels where management efforts would be ineffective in substantially reducing the beetle population. Objective to record the change in attack level with no action required beyond monitoring and reporting

Salvage - Applied to areas where management efforts would be ineffective in substantially reducing beetle populations. Objective is to salvage affected stands and minimize value loss.
