This data includes all incidents tracked by BC Wildfire Service, ie. actual fires, suspected fires, nusiance fires, smoke chases, etc. On April 1 of each year this layer is updated with the previous fire season's data

Comments: PROT_HISTORICAL_INCIDENTS_SP contains the coordinate locations of historical (not current/active) fire incidents. The data contains the spatial representation of the location coordinate point where the incident occured, zone information, and a geographic description.

IGNITION_DATE IGN_DATE DATE 7 IGNITION_DATE is the discovery date of the fire.
FIRE_CAUSE FIRE_CAUSE VARCHAR2 20 FIRE_CAUSE is the suspected cause of the fire, e.g., Lightning, Person.
FIRE_LABEL FIRELABEL VARCHAR2 16 FIRE_LABEL is the concatenation of Fire Number and Fire Year.
FIRE_CENTRE FRCNTR NUMBER 10 FIRE_CENTRE represents the BC Wildfire Service Centre administrative area.
ZONE ZONE NUMBER 10 ZONE is a subset of the BC Wildfire Service Centre administrative area.
FIRE_ID FIRE_ID NUMBER 10 FIRE_ID is a unique number, system-generated, within a fire year and fire centre.
FIRE_TYPE FIRE_TYPE VARCHAR2 20 FIRE_TYPE defines the type of incident that occured, e.g., Fire of Note, New, Modified/Monitored, Full Response.
GEOGRAPHIC_DESCRIPTION GEO_DESC VARCHAR2 50 GEOGRAPHIC_DESCRIPTION is a description of the approximate fire location: IC must note how far and in what direction the wildfire is in relation to a geographic reference. Note: for Railroad fires, actual railroad mileage is iuncluded as part of the geographic information, e.g., Sallus Creek, 172 mile-marker on railroad.
LATITUDE LATITUDE NUMBER 11 LATITUDE is the geographic coordinate, in decimal degrees (dd.dddddd), of the location of the feature as measured from the equator, e.g., 55.323653.
LONGITUDE LONGITUDE NUMBER 11 LONGITUDE is the geographic coordinate, in decimal degrees (-ddd.dddddd), of the location of the feature as measured from the prime meridian, e.g., -123.093544.
CURRENT_SIZE SIZE_HA NUMBER 9 CURRENT_SIZE is the estimated size of the area within the outside perimeter of the incident, in hectares.

SHAPE SHAPE SDO_GEOMETRY 1 SHAPE is the column used to reference the spatial coordinates defining the feature.
OBJECTID OBJECTID NUMBER 38 OBJECTID is a column required by spatial layers that interact with ESRI ArcSDE. It is populated with unique values automatically by SDE.
