A Fisheries Sensitive Watershed (FSW) is a mapped area with specific management objectives intended to guide development activities which may adversely impact important fish values . FSWs within this set of data are currently in the review and consultation stage of the area designation process.

As FSWs are designated they will be moved into the Approved Fisheries Sensitive Watersheds dataset.

Object Description

Object Name: WHSE_WILDLIFE_MANAGEMENT.WCP_FISH_SENS_WS_PROPOSED_SP

Short Name: FSW_PROP
Comments: A Fisheries Sensitive Watershed (FSW) is a mapped area with specific management objectives intended to guide development activities which may adversely impact important fish values . FSWs within this set of data are currently in the review and consultation stage of the area designation process.

Column Name Short Name Data Type Data Precision Comments
FISH_SENS_WS_PROPOSED_ID FSH_SNS_ID NUMBER 10 FISH_SENS_WS_PROPOSED_ID is a system generated unique identification number. This is the primary key of this dataset. e.g., 1
EVALUATION_UNIT EVLTN_NT VARCHAR2 30 EVALUATION_UNIT is an arbitrary alphanumeric Evaluation Unit number (field held for possible future use).
FEATURE_NOTES FTR_NTS VARCHAR2 254 FEATURE_NOTES is an optional description or information regarding the Proposed FSW polygon.
FSW_TAG FSW_TAG VARCHAR2 14 FSW_TAG is an alphanumeric string identifying the FSW polygon(s). Eg. f-6-003, where 'f' is constant, '6' is the Ministry of Environment Region number.
GAZETTED_NAME GZTTD_NM VARCHAR2 30 GAZETTED_NAME is the name of the watercourse legally recognized in the BC Gazette, located at the lowest down stream point in the proposed Fisheries Sensitive Watershed.
LOCAL_NAME LOCAL_NM VARCHAR2 30 LOCAL_NAME is the local name of the watercourse, located at the lowest down stream point in the proposed Fisheries Sensitive Watershed.
SQKM SQKM NUMBER 10 SQKM is the area of the proposed Fisheries Sensitive Watershed in square kilometers.
WATERSHED_CODE WS_CD VARCHAR2 143 WATERSHED_CODE is a code that is derived from the BC Fresh Watershed Atlas. It identifies a watershed polygon at the lowest downstream point in its relationship to associated polygons within the Fisheries Sensitive Watershed. e.g., 400-536025-998059-713370-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000
UNIT_NUMBER UNT_NMBR VARCHAR2 14 UNIT_NUMBER is a unique alphanumeric string assigned to each polygon unit within a group of polygons that have the same FSW tag. Where watershed evaluation documentation is produced that references watershed sub-units (polygons), the unique alphanumeric string should match that used in the report.
LEGISLATION_ACT_NAME LGSLTN_CTM VARCHAR2 50 LEGISLATION_ACT_NAME is the name of applicable Provincial legislation for the proposed Fisheries Sensitive Watershed, e.g., "FRPA" (Forest and Range Practices Act)
TIMBER_HARVEST_CODE TMBR_HRVSD VARCHAR2 50 TIMBER_HARVEST_CODE contains information on timber harvest in the proposed UWR polygon under FRPA. e.g., "NO HARVEST ZONE" or "CONDITIONAL HARVEST ZONE" or “NO HARVEST CONSTRAINTS”  - consult Order for General Wildlife Measures.
CONTACT_NAME CONTACT_NM VARCHAR2 50 CONTACT_NAME is the name of the Regional Biologist (or designate) responsible for the proposed FSW
CONTACT_EMAIL CONTCT_EML VARCHAR2 100 CONTACT_EMAIL is an email address for the Regional Biologist (or designate) responsible for the proposed FSW
SUPPORTING_MATERIAL_URL_1 SPPRTNG_M1 VARCHAR2 150 SUPPORTING_MATERIAL_URL_1 First URL to supporting documentation. Use GeoBC ftp site and directory structure as per Habitat Designation Process established May 2014
SUPPORTING_MATERIAL_URL_2 SPPRTNG_M2 VARCHAR2 150 SUPPORTING_MATERIAL_URL_2 Second URL to supporting documentation. Use GeoBC ftp site and directory structure as per Habitat Designation Process established May 2014
FEATURE_CODE FEATURE_CD VARCHAR2 10 FEATURE_CODE is the Ministry of Environment database code identifying the feature category.
SHAPE SHAPE SDO_GEOMETRY 1 SHAPE is the column used to reference the spatial coordinates defining the feature.
OBJECTID OBJECTID NUMBER 38 OBJECTID is a column required by spatial layers that interact with ESRI ArcSDE. It is populated with unique values automatically by SDE.
SE_ANNO_CAD_DATA ANNO_CAD BLOB 4000 SE ANNO CAD DATA is a binary column used by spatial tools to store annotation, curve features and CAD data when using the SDO_GEOMETRY storage data type.
