Used to indicate the area of the polygon located within a FIZ. Used in conjunction with Public Sustained Yield Until to assign stand volume. However, this is no longer used within forest inventory volumes. These days FIZ is only used for Timber Evaluation of Timber Operations and Pricing.
FIZ code is assigned using a table lookup based on Inventory_Region, Compartment. FIZ code was used as index to coefficients for calculating all volumes, diameters, MAI's and basal areas. This has been replaced based on BEC (biogeoclimatic).

Object Name: WHSE_ADMIN_BOUNDARIES.FADM_FOREST_INVENTORY_ZONES_SP
Short Name: FADM_FIZ
Comments: The Forest Inventory Zones (FIZ) were developed to provide a broadly based ecological classification of the forest land in BC. The province is split into 12 FIZ zones with FIZ boundaries closely following the early Biogeoclimatic Zones developed by Dr. Krajina. A FIZ code is assigned using a lookup table based on Forest Inventory Region and Compartment. Previously, FIZ codes were used as an index to coefficients for calculating all volumes, diameters, Mean Annual Increments (MAI) and Basal Areas.
