Purpose

The table provide a high level summary of results of the GBPU conservation ranking and act as input to the Environmental Reporting Grizzly Bear indicator - http://www.env.gov.bc.ca/soe/indicators/plants-and-animals/grizzly-bears.html

The data is based on the best available information, please see report for references and the github page for a presentation of the R code used to generate the results - https://github.com/bcgov/grizzly-bear-IUCN-threats

Lineage Statement

The data table summarises data from a number of sources including: -Land Cover Data: Based on the British Columbia Baseline Thematic Mapping present land use data BTM file distributed under the Access Only - B.C. Crown Copyright licence. -Road Data: The analysis uses the British Columbia Digital Road Atlas available from the B.C. Data Catalogue and distributed under the Access Only - B.C. Crown Copyright licence. The Digital Road Atlas is the best available single source of road data for the Province of B.C. Metadata details for the Digital Road Atlas (DRA) are available in PDF format from the B.C. Data Catalogue. -Human and livestock density from Stats Canada; Humans- https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2016/dp-pd/hlt-fst/pd-pl/comprehensive.cfm, Cows- https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=3210042401 and Sheep- https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1/en/tv.action?pid=3210042501 -Cumulative Effects Grizzly Bear Current Condition Data: This analysis uses data developed by British Columbia to evaluate indicators of Grizzly Bear current condition.
