Dataset Extent

Latitude: 48.0° to 60.0°
Longitude: -139.5° to -113.5°

Additional Information

Spatial layer intended to display the location of water rights points of diversion on licensed springs, as licensed under the Water Act, along with the licence information.

Lineage Statement

Spatial view created for WRBC WMS layer conversion. It joins the geometry and attributes in the WLS_POD_LICENCE_SP table to source information from SOURCES. WLS POD LICENCE SP is the result of an INNER join between BC_POINTS_OF_DIVERSION and GOAT_POD_LICENCES.

Object Description

Comments: POD LICENCE SOURCES is a province-wide SDE layer displaying water points of diversion on licenced springs, joined with licence information. This layer is a spatially de-normalized version of WLS_POD_LICENCE_SOURCES_SVW.

Column Name Short Name Data Type Data Precision Comments
TPOD_TAG TPOD_TAG VARCHAR2 10 TPOD TAG is a unique identifier for the point of diversion at a branch on the stream.
POD_LICENCE_SOURCE_ID POD_LIC_SR NUMBER 18 The POD LICENCE SOURCE ID is the unique identifier of a source associated to the point of diversion for a Water Act licence. This identifier is not persistent.
STATUS STATUS VARCHAR2 2 STATUS is the status of license creation. A = applicaiton for license, L = License granted , AL = both License issued and application for license on point of diversion, I = inactive
REDIV_FLAG REDIV_FLAG VARCHAR2 1 REDIV FLAG indicates that Water from one stream is diverted into another stream. The second stream is used as a natural conduit to move the water closer to the place of use. The removal of the water from the second stream is a rediversion of water which originated in the first stream. (e.g. N means that there is no rediversion)
LICENCE_NO LICENCE_NO VARCHAR2 7 LICENCE NUMBER is a unique seven-character identifier assigned for each licence to divert and use water. (e.g. C121742)
PRIORITY_DATE PRIORIT_DT NUMBER 10 PRIORITY DATE is the date from which the precedence of the licence is established.(e.g. 19750130)
LIC_STATUS LIC_STATUS VARCHAR2 15 LIC STATUS is the status of licence or application. (e.g. CURRENT)
LIC_STAT_DATE LIC_ST_DT NUMBER 10 LIC STAT DATE is the date that LIC STATUS was updated. (e.g. 19750130)
MAPSHEET_POD MAPSHEET VARCHAR2 70 MAPSHEET POD represents Water Rights maps are created by the Water Management Branch. These maps reconcile a Point of Diversion (POD) and other features of a licence, e.g. pipeline, dwelling, appurtenant land, to a geographic location. Each Water Rights map has a unique number, located in the bottom right corner. The WR Map/POD search field is optimally used if you are physically working with a Water Rights map. (e.g. 1344 W (PD23165)).
STREAM_NAME STRM_NAME VARCHAR2 30 STREAM NAME describes the name of the stream the point of diversion is marked upon.
PURPOSE PURPOSE VARCHAR2 25 PURPOSE indicates the use of water authorized by license. (e.g. Domestic; Irrigation)
QUANTITY QUANTITY NUMBER 20 QUANTITY describes the maximum quantity in UNITS of water that can be diverted for the specified purpose in the license.
UNITS UNITS VARCHAR2 2 UNITS describes the unit of measurement for the QUANTITY of water authorized in the license. (e.g. GD-gallons per day: AF-acre -feet per annum)
QTY_FLAG QTY_FLAG VARCHAR2 1 QTY FLAG is a code representing whether authorized QUANTITY is to be obtained from one POD or many. (e.g. M means many PODs)
FLAG_DESC FLAG_DESC VARCHAR2 69 FLAG DESC is a description of QTY FLAG code (e.g. Max licensed demand for purpose/multiple PODs/qty at each POD unknown.)
FILE_NO FILE_NO VARCHAR2 7 FILE NO is the internal Water Management Branch number assigned to a file that may hold one or more licences. (e.g. 4003422)
DIST_PREC_NAME DIST_PREC VARCHAR2 25 DIST PREC NAME contains the name of the Distict acronym and Precinct name. District is defined under the water regulation as "except in the definition of 'local authority', means a water district referred to in section 35 and described in schedule c". Precincts are jurisdictional areas within a water district created by water management branch for administrative reasons. (e.g. Pg-vanderhoof - prince george water district/vanderhoof precinct)
LIC_APPL_FLAG LIC_APPL_F VARCHAR2 1 LIC APPL FLAG is a code displaying whether record is a Licence or Application (e.g. L indicates Licence)
PROC_STATUS PROC_STAT VARCHAR2 20 PROC STATUS is the Internal code applied to a licence or application that indicates the status of the record. (e.g. Application_Cleared)
LICENSEE LICENSEE VARCHAR2 40 The LICENSEE is the "Owner of any land, mine or undertaking with respect to which a licence is issued under this or a former Act" Water Act - 1996. Also referred to as "holder of a licence."
ADDRESS_LINE1 ADDRESS_L1 VARCHAR2 25 ADDRESS LINE1 is the first line of the LICENCEE's mailing address.
ADDRESS_LINE2 ADDRESS_L2 VARCHAR2 25 ADDRESS LINE2 is the second line of the LICENCEE's mailing address.
ADDRESS_LINE3 ADDRESS_L3 VARCHAR2 25 ADDRESS LINE3 is the second line of the LICENCEE's mailing address.
ADDRESS_LINE4 ADDRESS_L4 VARCHAR2 25 ADDRESS LINE4 is the second line of the LICENCEE's mailing address.
COUNTRY COUNTRY VARCHAR2 25 COUNTRY is the name of the country for the LICENCEE's mailing address.
POSTAL_CODE POSTL_CODE VARCHAR2 10 POSTAL CODE is the Postal code for LICENCEE 's mailing address.
PCL_NO PCL_NO VARCHAR2 5 PCL NO is the internal Water Management number assigned to a Permit over Crown Land that gives "authority to flood Crown land or to construct, maintain or operate works on Crown land" Water Act 1996. (e.g. 25540)
