Data Quality

LEH Survey Estimates are generated for the following LEH species included in the survey: bison, elk, moose and mule deer. Prior to 2010, estimates were also generated for white-tailed deer.

Data for species not included in the LEH survey are collected under other programs, including compulsory inspection and reporting or the Hunter Sample Survey.

Lineage Statement

The Limited Entry Hunting Survey (part of the Harvest Questionnaire) is sent to hunters who receive an LEH authorization. Data collected through the survey is used to estimate the number of hunters, hunt days, and harvests by LEH hunt.
