Local and Regional Greenspaces

Published by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations - GeoBC

This dataset contains spatial and attribute information for local and regional greenspaces in British Columbia. Local and regional greenspaces are municipal or regional district lands designated by local government agencies and managed for public enjoyment, ecosystem or wildlife values. Spatial boundaries were sourced from various Open Data Sources and ICI Society (Integrated Cadastral Information) data that is open. Boundaries are in the process of being edge-matched to the Integrated Cadastral Fabric (ICF) parcels. This spatial layer contains multipart polygons.

Additional Information

Purpose

Local and Regional Greenspaces have, up to this point, not been amalgamated into one dataset for the entire province and made available to the public. The dataset will be useful in cartographic and analytical products.
Data QualityData loading will occur as regions are completed; it will not be provincial in scope during the initial loading phase. Once local and regional greenspaces have been loaded for the entire province, updates will occur on an as-needed basis.
Lineage StatementGreenspace boundaries have been edge-matched to the Integrated Cadastral Fabric (ICF) parcels.

Column Name Short Name Data Type Data Precision Comments
LOCAL_REG_GREENSPACE_ID LCL_RG__ID NUMBER 10 LOCAL_REG_GREENSPACE_ID is a system-generated unique identification number.
PID PID VARCHAR2 30 PID is the Land Title Register parcel identifier, a nine-digit number that uniquely identifies a parcel in the land title register of in British Columbia. The registrar assigns PID numbers to parcels for which a title is being entered as a registered title. The Land Title Act refers to the PID as the permanent parcel identifier. If the park is not associated with a parcel in the Integrated Cadastral Fabric (ICF), this field is null, e.g., 018850529.
PARK_NAME PARK_NAME VARCHAR2 200 PARK NAME is the name of the park, e.g., Allenby Park.
PARK_TYPE PARK_TYPE VARCHAR2 30 PARK_TYPE is the type of park, e.g., Local, Regional, Regional Reserve, Private.
REGIONAL_DISTRICT REG_DIST VARCHAR2 100 REGIONAL_DISTRICT is the name of the regional district in which the park resides, e.g., Capital Regional District.
LOCALITY LOCALITY VARCHAR2 100 LOCALITY is the name of the municipality or locality in which the park resides, e.g. Kamloops.
CIVIC_NUMBER CIV_NUM NUMBER 10 CIVIC_NUMBER is the street number or nearest estimate of a street number for the park.
CIVIC_NUMBER_SUFFIX CIV_NUM_SF VARCHAR2 5 CIVIC_NUMBER_SUFFIX is the letter or fraction that may come after the CIVIC NUMBER, e.g., A, 1/2.
STREET_NAME STREET_NM VARCHAR2 100 STREET_NAME is the name of the street or nearest street to the park, e.g., Burnside Rd W.
LATITUDE LATITUDE NUMBER 8 LATITUDE is the geographic coordinate, in decimal degrees (dd.dddddd), of the location of the feature as measured from the equator, e.g., 55.323653.
LONGITUDE LONGITUDE NUMBER 9 LONGITUDE is the geographic coordinate, in decimal degrees (dd.dddddd), of the location of the feature as measured from the prime meridian, e.g., -123.093544.
WHEN_UPDATED WHEN_UPDTD DATE 7 WHEN_UPDATED is the date and time the record was last modified.
FEATURE_AREA_SQM FEAT_AREA NUMBER 19 FEATURE_AREA_SQM is the system calculated area of a two-dimensional polygon in square meters.
FEATURE_LENGTH_M FEAT_LEN NUMBER 19 FEATURE_LENGTH_M is the system calculated length or perimeter of a geometry in meters.
SHAPE SHAPE SDO_GEOMETRY 1 SHAPE is the column used to reference the spatial coordinates defining the feature.
OBJECTID OBJECTID NUMBER 38 OBJECTID is a column required by spatial layers that interact with ESRI ArcSDE. It is populated with unique values automatically by SDE.
SE_ANNO_CAD_DATA ANNO_CAD BLOB 4000 SE_ANNO_CAD_DATA is a binary column used by spatial tools to store annotation, curve features and CAD data when using the SDO_GEOMETRY storage data type.
