This dataset includes information on the number of units in each local government of: subsidized housing of various types, including transitional supported and assisted living, independent social housing, and units secured through rent supplements; and housing for people at risk of homelessness and shelters for people experiencing homelessness. * BC Housing only tracks units where it has a financial relationship.  There may be other subsidized housing units in the community.

Purpose

This dataset is intended to support BC local governments in meeting provincial requirements to develop housing needs reports.

Data Quality
  • BC Housing’s ‘Housing Continuum’ reports are based on ‘units’ ( housing units, beds, spaces and rent supplements, depending on each program) and do not report on the number of ‘people’ assisted.
  • Individual total and sub-total figures may not match exactly with the sum of the cells in their row/column, since units for the all subgroups service allocation groups are marked '0' if one of the subgroups has 5 or fewer units.
  • See file for further notes and definitions.
Lineage Statement

This data is prepared and provided by BC Housing.
