"The spatial view TA_SURFACE_OWNERSHIP_SVW is a mutli-part polygon feature, that indicates whether the surface rights of a particular active survey parcel (either primary or subdivision) are currently owned by the crown or have been granted to a private interest.

The data is provided with two non-statistical confidence levels, one for the analysis of the ownership transaction records, and a second indicating the potential impact of missing parcel geometry.

The information is sourced from the Crown Land Registry which is the primary government record of lands transferred out of Crown Provincial ownership (as defined under the Land Act).

Note: Due to historical limitations on data capture, this set of data should not be relied upon to be the definitive source of whether a survey parcel is crown or private.

Object Description

Object Name: WHSE_TANTALIS.TA_SURFACE_OWNERSHIP_SVW

Short Name: TSRFCWNRS1
Comments: The spatial view TA SURFACE OWNERSHIP SVW is a mutli-part polygon feature, that indicates whether the surface rights of a particular active survey parcel (either primary or subdivision) are currently owned by the crown or have been granted to a private interest. Note: this dataset should not be relied upon to be the definitive source of whether a survey parcel is crown or private. A confidence level (LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH) is included with each feature to indicate the likelihood that the feature is indeed crown or private.

Column Name Short Name Data Type Data Precision Comments
PARCEL_SID PARCEL_SID NUMBER 15 PARCEL_SID is the unique Tantalis identifier for this SURVEY_PARCEL; this field is commonly refered to as the PIN_SID.
PRIMARY_PARCEL_SID PRMRPRCLSD NUMBER 38 PRIMARY_PARCEL_SID is the sid of the primary parcel for this survey parcel. In the case that this survey parcel is also the primary parcel, the PRIMARY PARCEL SID and the PARCEL SID will contain the same value. This field is commonly refered to as the PIN_SID for a Primary Parcel.
CROWN_IND CROWN_IND CHAR 1 CROWN IND is used to indicate if the surface rights of the survey parcel are owned by the crown or have been granted to a private interest. The value ''Y'' is used to indicate crown ownership and the value ''N'' is used to indicate a private interest.
OWNERSHIP_CONFIDENCE WNRSHPCNFD VARCHAR2 6 OWNERSHIP CONFIDENCE is the likelihood that the value calculated for the CROWN IND, but the SPOC application, has the proper value. The three values for the confidence are LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH.
SHAPE_CONFIDENCE SHPCNFDNC VARCHAR2 171 SHAPE CONFIDENCE is a value that is provided so that the user can interpret for themself how likely it is that the value in the CROWN IND for this primary parcel is correct. This is only populated for primary parcels. An example is "3/46 18 (C) 25 (P)" which means 3 of a potential 46 shapes are defined, 18 of the missing shapes represent crown land and 25 of the missing shapes represent private land.
LEGAL_DESCRIPTION LGLDSCRPTN VARCHAR2 2000 LEGAL_DESCRIPTION is the written delineation of a parcel of land; these descriptors are also used by the land registry office.
PRIMARY_IND PRMRND CHAR 1 PRIMARY_IND is used to indicate if the survey parcel is a primary parcel or a subdivision the survey parcel is primary when PRIMARY_IND is 'Y'.
SUBDIVISION_CNT SBDVSNCNT NUMBER 38 SUBDIVISION CNT is the total number of active subdivisions that make up a primary parcel.
MISSING_CROWN_GEOMETRY_CNT MSSNGCRWNG NUMBER 38 MISSING CROWN GEOMETRY CNT is the total number of sub divisions for the primary parcel that do not have geometry and the surface rights are owned by the crown.
MISSING_PRIVATE_GEOMETRY_CNT MSSNGPRVTG NUMBER 38 MISSING PRIVATE GEOMETRY CNT is the total number of sub divisions for the primary parcel that do not have geometry and the surface rights are granted to a private interest.
OWNERSHIP_EFFECTIVE_DATE WNRSHPFFCT DATE 7 OWNERSHIP_EFFECTIVE_DATE represents the date when the change in ownership represented by this shape took effect; this is often the date land was partitioned or sold.
PARCEL_KIND_CODE PRCLKNDCD VARCHAR2 50 PARCEL_KIND_CODE contains a clasification about the type of parcel being represented by this shapes; for example "MNRL CLM" represents a mineral claim while "TWNST" is a township.
SHAPE SHAPE SDO_GEOMETRY 64 SHAPE is the column used to reference the spatial coordinates defining the feature
FEATURE_AREA_SQM FEAT_AREA NUMBER 19
FEATURE_LENGTH_M FEAT_LEN NUMBER 19
OBJECTID OBJECTID NUMBER 38 OBJECTID is a required attribute of feature classes and object classes in a geodatabase.
