TA_SURVEY_PARCELS_SVW Contains the spatial representation (polygon) of all active primary and subdivision parcels of land that are or have been within the purview of the B.C. Crown Land Management program. The view was created to provide a simplified view of this data from the survey parcel information in the Tantalis operational system. Primary and subdivision parcels are the two types of parcels (as identified by the PARCEL_TYPE attribute) that are generally suitable for transfer of ownership

Purpose

The information about Surveyed Parcels represented in this view can be used to support a variety of purposes including, but not limited to: land use planning processes (e.g. Forest Stewardship Planning); statutory processes (e.g. free miner notification under the Mineral Tenure Act); and timber supply review processes. The Surveyed Parcels represented in this view are a subset of the Crown tenure types held in the Crown Land Registry system (Tantalis).

Lineage Statement

80% accurate. With the exception of unsurveyed (digitized) boundaries, the cadastral data is captured at a 1:1 scale.

A parcel with the PARCEL_TYPE CDE of 'Primary' represents the top or originating parcel in all survey parcel lineages, it is the first survey parcel to be created from un-surveyed crown land under the Land Act, can be owned, tenured or subdivided like other parcels but it's survey persists for both positional control and derivative parcel naming. A parcel with the PARCEL_TYPE of 'Subdivision' is usually a division of a primary parcel or another subdivision, but may also be a consolidation of several parcels, they may be created under either the Land Act or the Land Title Act. A parcel with the PARCEL_TYPE of 'Right-of-Way' is a parcel of land surveyed for statutory access or Right-of-Way purposes, Unlike Primary and Subdivision Parcels, Right-of-Way parcels are not suitable for ownership.

If it is large enough to have a shape at the scale of data capture, it may be stored as an outline, or a closed polygon. The same feature code still links it to the same definition.
