A real-time decision-making tool that helps citizens determine if venting conditions are sufficient to initiate open burning in a particular geographic area (Venting Index Zones).

Each venting index applies to a geographic area, known as a Smoke Sensitivity Zone. These zones are delineated on the venting index map. Upon satisfying all other requirements of the Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation, open burning within each zone may only be initiated if that zone is good on the day of ignition and good or fair on the following day.

If venting conditions are sufficient to initiate open burning in a zone, a "Burn Allowed: YES" will be indicated on the information display pop-up box for that zone. If venting is insufficient to initiate open burning, a "Burn Allowed: NO" will appear.

The live Venting Index Forecast feed is updated daily by 7:30 AM.
