Wildlife habitat areas (WHAs) are mapped areas that are necessary to meet the habitat requirements of an Identified Wildlife element. WHAs designate critical habitats in which activities are managed to limit their impact on the Identified Wildlife element for which the area was established. The purpose of WHAs is to conserve those habitats considered most limiting to a given Identified Wildlife element. This dataset contains proposed WHAs for the entire province except for the Omenica Region as there are none in the consultation phase at this time

Column Name Short Name Data Type Data Precision Comments
WHA_PROPOSED_ID WH_PRPSD_D NUMBER 10 WHA PROPOSED ID is a system generated identifier to insure row uniqueness.
WHA_TAG WH_TG VARCHAR2 14 WHA TAG is a key to identify each Wildlife Habitat Area with the first character is the number identifying the region and the three numbers are a unique value for that region. E.g. 4-004.
PROPOSED_DATE PRPSD_DT DATE 7 PROPOSED DATE is the date when a WHA goes from Step 2 to Step 3 - review and comment..
PROPOSED_NAME PRPSD_NM VARCHAR2 50 PROPOSED NAME is the name of the proposed wildlife habitat area. E.g. Johnson's Landing
COMMON_SPECIES_NAME CMMN_SPCS_ VARCHAR2 50 COMMON SPECIES NAME is the English or commonly used name of the animal that would be managed under the proposed wildlife habitat area. "Data sensitive" in cases where the data is sensitive. E.g. Northern Goshawk, Data sensitive (in cases where the data is sensitive)
TIMBER_HARVEST_CODE TMBR_HRVST VARCHAR2 50 TIMBER HARVEST CODE contains information on timber harvest in the WHA polygon under FRPA. e.g., "NO HARVEST ZONE" or "CONDITIONAL HARVEST ZONE" - consult Order for General Wildlife Measures.
FEATURE_NOTES FTR_NTS VARCHAR2 512 FEATURE NOTES is an arbitrary, specific description of the location and/or characteristics of a WHA.
ACCOUNTS_MEASURES_LINK CCNTS_MSRS VARCHAR2 512 ACCOUNTS MEASURES LINK is the URL for the accounts and measures for managing identified wildlife species.
FEATURE_CODE FTR_CD VARCHAR2 10 FEATURE CODE is the Ministry of Environment database code identifying the feature category. e.g., FF84630160
SHAPE SHP SDO_GEOMETRY 1 SHAPE is the column used to reference the spatial coordinates defining the feature.
OBJECTID BJCTD NUMBER 38 OBJECTID is a column required by spatial layers that interact with ESRI ArcSDE. It is populated with unique values automatically by SDE.
SE_ANNO_CAD_DATA S_NN_CD_DT BLOB 4000 SE ANNO CAD DATA is a binary column used by spatial tools to store annotation, curve features and CAD data when using the SDO_GEOMETRY storage data type.
FEATURE_AREA_SQM NUMBER 19
FEATURE_LENGTH_M NUMBER 19
